If you think Dubai is all about malls, luxury, and influencers taking slow-motion videos at the beach… let me stop you right there. Dubai is secretly one of the best cities for adventure lovers, and I made it my mission to try some of the most thrilling activities during my trip.
Here are 6 must-do adventure activities in Dubai, ranked based on my own experience — completely honest, slightly funny, and very real.
1. Dune Buggy Tour — My #1 Favourite (100% Worth Every Penny)
If you’re into motorsports, adrenaline, or simply enjoy doing stupidly fun things with powerful machines… the Dune Buggy Tour is an absolute must.
I went with my girlfriend and a friend, and we booked two Can-Am X3 buggies for a 2-hour tour through Big Red Adventure. These beasts are insanely powerful — mine easily hit around 80 km/h on the dunes (and trust me, it had way more power, but the guides won’t let you go full Verstappen mode).
The fun part? Jumping over dunes. Throwing sand on your friends behind you. Laughing like 7-year-olds in a real-life desert playground.

Our guide, William, was a legend. If you book, request him.
I paid roughly $1600 for 2 buggies, but here’s the hack of the century: If you flew Emirates, show your boarding pass and get 30% OFF. I saved around $600, plus got free pickup & drop-off.
They also include unlimited drinks, sandboarding, and a camel ride (I skipped the camel part because I prefer not bothering animals).
- Price: ~$2000 for 2 buggies (before discount)
- My Rating: 10/10
- Must-Do Level: If you love adventure — this is THE activity.
2. Sky Walk Dubai — Terrifying, Thrilling, and Totally Worth It
At the top of the Address Sky View Hotel, Dubai lets you walk on the edge of the building at around 220 metres (720 ft).
And I mean… literally on the edge. They harness you, open the gate, and suddenly you’re standing on a thin ledge thinking: “Ah yes… this is how I die.”
If you have a fear of heights — this is the activity for you. You will feel your heartbeat in your ears.
Since I had done similar activities before, I got comfortable within a few minutes and ended up hanging off the edge getting photos clicked.
One thing I loved: they provide a transparent mobile neck pouch, so you can actually take your phone with you. There’s also a professional photographer (but photos are extra and a bit overpriced).
- Upper age limit: 65
- Weight limit: 120 kg
- Price: ~$125 (Book it through Klook)
- My Rating: 9/10
- Must-Do Level: Perfect for anyone looking for a controlled “I almost died” moment.
The view of downtown Dubai and Burj Khalifa from up there is something you’ll remember for life.
3. Ferrari World Abu Dhabi — The Theme Park for Lunatics (in a Good Way)
If you’re visiting Dubai, it’s almost guaranteed you’ll go to Abu Dhabi at least once. And if you love thrill rides, Ferrari World is non-negotiable.

Yes, it has the fastest roller coaster in the world — Formula Rossa (0–240 km/h in 5 seconds). But here’s a twist: it’s not even the scariest ride in the park.
Here are the real monsters:
1. Flying Aces
My top pick. The fear hit so hard that even while writing this, I got chills. This ride is “only” 120 km/h, but feels 3× faster than Formula Rossa.
2. Turbo Track
A 90° vertical climb, zero-gravity moment, and a vertical drop. Short but brutal.
3. Formula Rossa
Fast? Yes. Scary? Not really. Worth trying? Absolutely.
If you’re an F1 fan, you’ll love seeing the real Ferrari championship-winning cars.

- Price: $95 for 1 park (Book it through Klook)
- Pro Tip: Get the 2-park ticket for $130 (Ferrari World + Warner Bros).
- Rating: 9/10
- Must-Do Level: Mandatory if you like thrill rides.
If you love theme parks, you’ll also enjoy my detailed review of Burj Khalifa’s At The Top experience.
4. Karting at Dubai Autodrome — For Every Wannabe F1 Driver
This track is huge and usually packed with 30–40 people per session. Which means…
- Forget a clean lap.
- Prepare to overtake like Max Verstappen in traffic.
If you have any karting experience, this is heaven. I had the best time aggressively overtaking people — it honestly felt like a real race.

Still, Bangkok’s IMPACT Speed Park remains my #1 karting experience, but this one is a very solid #2.
- Price: ~$45–50 (Book through the Dubai Autodrome website)
- Rating: 8.5/10
- Must-Do Level: For motorsport lovers, yes.
5. Private Yacht / Dubai Marina Cruise — Ditch the Dhow, Go VIP
Most tourists take the Dhow Cruise, which is… okay. You get a buffet, some entertainment, but also a lot of people.
If you want something peaceful with incredible views — book a private yacht. No crowds. No waiting for people to finish taking 47 pictures. No being stuck in one seat.
You can roam around, take photos from any angle, and even drive the yacht for a bit (I did).

The highlight? Standing at the front of the yacht with the glowing Ain Dubai behind me — best photo spot ever.
I booked mine directly over calls, so I don’t have a link, but Klook has similar options.
Price-wise — not 100% sure, but I remember paying around $150 for ~90 minutes for our group. Drinks and water included.
- Price: ~$150 (for the group) | Book via Klook
- Rating: 9/10
- Must-Do Level: Perfect if you want peaceful adventure vibes.
6. Desert Safari — A Classic, and Honestly Still Fun
Everyone does the Desert Safari, and you should too — at least once.
You get:
- Pickup & drop
- Dune bashing
- Entertainment shows (fire shows, dance performances)
- Buffet dinner
- Access to a desert camp

But here’s the thing: The dune bashing quality completely depends on your driver.
Some drivers do a 5-minute slow loop and say “done.” Others actually give a fun ride. Spend a bit extra for a good operator — it’s worth it.
At the camp, everyone will try to sell you something. Here’s the rule: If you want it, whatever price they quote, offer 30%. You WILL get it.
- Price: ~$50–60 per person. (Check tours on Klook)
- Rating: 7.5/10
- Must-Do Level: Not extreme, but worth doing once.
Tips to Make Your Adventure Trip Better
- Fly Emirates if possible → big discounts on dune buggy tours.
- Book everything online → cheaper + guaranteed slot.
- Summer is cheaper & less crowded → but it’s hot, be prepared.
- Avoid weekends for Sky Walk & Ferrari World → queues get insane.
- For desert activities, add pickup/drop → otherwise returning is a nightmare.
Final Thoughts
Dubai surprised me. It’s not just skyscrapers and fancy malls — it’s a paradise for adventure seekers. If I had to give you my final recommended order, here it is again:
Dune Buggy → Sky Walk → Ferrari World → Karting → Private Yacht → Desert Safari
If you try any of these, trust me — you’ll come back with stories, adrenaline, and probably a sore throat from screaming on Flying Aces.
